TREATMENT

All severe (or clinically severe) hemophiliacs receive prophylactic home therapy in Iceland. Others receive on demand treatment. Only recombinant factors have been used for hemophilia A and B since 1998.

Every hemophiliac and patients with other bleeding disorders, such as von Willebrand disease and Bernard-Soulier syndrome are invited for regular visits at the hemophilia center or the Children´s Hospital. The frequency depends upon age, severity and other health related issues.
